
The $19.6 million building referendum voted on March 12 failed by a vote of 693 yes to 1937 no. As the 90-year-old building we presently occupy does not comply with ADA and minimum state standards for public libraries, the Library Board has begun ongoing discussions to determine how best to proceed in garnering a broad spectrum of public input prior to developing a new project plan. Three Board seats are up for election in June, and there will be at least two new Board members (two of the incumbents are not seeking re-election). A new project should reflect the thinking of the new Board.
